Having played pretty consistently for over a week, the one game mechanic currently present that I feel would benefit the play experience getting addressed sooner rather than later, Is getting a way to improve your carry weight. I'm trying to improve the shed but its slow progress made slower by how few materials or furniture items I can move at one time while wearing clothes and carrying the tools for gathering materials. it would serve as an additional objective for player's to strive for.
There will be gear enchantments with various effects including carry weight. I'm also taking another look at material balance for structures in general.
I'm enjoying the game so far, but I was wondering two things.
Can people in the village follow you to other zones? They seem to indicate a willingness or want to, but then I try to go there with them following, and they don't follow.
Second: Are you going to add more pre-generated characters?
They can leave the town world tile as part of their routines, but they can't while following you, and will actively refuse if you ask them while they're not on the town world tile. This is simply because that feature would require a suprising amount of work to develop and doesn't seem that important right now, so it's low priority.
There's currently hard limit of 7 main characters because Nemo (the model) breaks down after ~4,000 tokens of context/memory. One token is about 3/4th of a word, and everything the NPC knows, including the short term memory of the current conversation and information about every other NPC living in the village has to fit in there. Mirel is an 8th character but the other NPCs knowledge about her is located in the same place as NPCs knowledge about less relevant information like items or locations which doesn't take up context tokens. This only works because Mirel isn't always around. I tried moving all NPCs there but it doesn't work out because it's a less organic way of incorporating information.
A better model, preferably with linear instead of quadratic attention is required for more main characters but there isn't one yet.
Ah, I meant new pre-set characters for players to choose, not new NPCs. Seems like expanding the game might be tricky with that low limit on NPCs, but, good luck!
This is the LLM trying to hallucinate the output of another role that is not its own, which should be getting suppressed but it seems this kind of behavior can still slip though.
I noticed that when I was talking to both Hayden & Darian as a group, the up arrow to read previous sections of longer responses from either of them gets hidden behind one of the exit dialogue buttons.
you might want to look in the code for trees after exit the cave the trees pop in so thick is all most imposible to move let a lone get back to town and it can happin goin from 1 area thin back
You made the pixelart, but cheaped out on the character avatars?? Please stop using ai, you're a fine artist, make pixelart of the characters or hire an artist.
The pixelart is AI too. And the entire premise of the game is that it is all AI. There is even a guide included on how to make your own character. You say the dev "cheaped out" but they're only selling the game for 8 dollars, with a large amount of the content being free and included in the demo anyway. Having to budget for hiring an artist would triple this games price at least.

I'm trying to run the AI on my GPU but it's not working. The console window opens for a second, closes, and the game tells me "Failed to load AI model". I've tried running it as an administrator and giving it high priority but no change.
Looks like a file integrity issue or an antivirus blocking it somehow. Try deleting koboldcpp.exe and let the game download it again. If it doesn't work check your antivirus.
This didn't work at first but after moving the folder to my C drive and downloading koboldcpp.exe again it started working. Seems like the G drive was lacking some permissions. Thanks for the fast responses.
At some point would it be possible for you to add a settings option for changing the length of the responses to longer if running off the gpu? whatever i seem to do, the ai tends to stick with one line responses or emotes.
I can add a verbosity slider, but it'll be more of a suggestion to the AI than something that can be enforced. If you're talking to Gareth or Oriana it's just part of their characters.

There is none right now. The NPCs are prone to lying because it's an inherit property of LLM based AI. If two different NPCs give you wildly different answers to a question without having exchanged information/having overheard the conversation by being nearby, it's not part of their knowledge database and they made it up.
When I start the game, where I you pick the charaters you can swap bewteen the other charaters and choice the gender but you can not click finish. If I press load save this pops up. you can not click on any of those settings
Looks like a save file folder access permission problem. Try launching the game as administrator, or if this is the browser version try another browser.
Try deleting the entire AppData\LocalLow\Three Eyes Software\Silverpine folder. This will also delete your save files, but save files before 0.8 aren't cross-version compatible anyway.

Thanks for providing your save file. I was able to identify the problem and fix it. It has been very valuable to me since someone else already reported this bug before but I couldn't reproduce it. The game will automatically repair your existing save when you load it.
When a character says more than one screen of dialogue and the arrow to go back a screen appears, it overlaps with the button for closing the dialogue and having the character follow you. Is this something you can fix for the next update?
this is a interesting idea, though could you make the trees actually drop something then you chop them down? not sure if it's a bug or not but it seems like a odd thing.

EDIT: So, to clarify, the below was written after I followed the recommended setting to use my graphics card memory since I had over 12gb available. However when I chose server, the game works. I'm not sure which option I should choose. But it works for the "server" option.
It's not working for download. Purchased it, followed the steps appropriately for koboldcpp.exe. I saw you had a troubleshooting thread already for this issue, and I set the Preset to CuBLAS and put the text model to model.gguf. Unfortunately nothing works, the AI fails to load, it says "failed to load scrip koboldccp" or something. and I'm not sure what else to do.
Does the command prompt open and then do nothing for forever like for kuu24? Everything should set itself up automatically.

You shouldn't have to manually do anything with the .exe at all. If the command prompt opens and then does nothing after "High priority for Windows Set...", perhaps there's a problem with this older version of KoboldCPP and the newest Nvidia drivers? I have no way of verifying this myself because I use a 1070. Does the command prompt open and then close by itself? Can you further describe your issue specifically?
The command prompt does open and close by itself, but I notice at the end it provides an error "failed to load script koboldccp" or something in the MsDOS window. Anyway, I've been able to play via server, so I'll try playing GPU. It worked because I ran it as administrator so I'll try that.
Last time I tried this it failed to load the AI model entirely. Even doing the steps suggested didn't work. I don't use an NVIDIA graphics card, I have an AMD build with an RX6800 graphics card.
Repeated the steps, ran the program as administrator, and everything downloaded as you specified. However, like the last few times, it runs its program and at the end it displays "unhandled exception" or something and the window closes. I've added a build that uses a more recent version of KoboldCPP. It might fix the issue. If it doesn't fix it, open a command prompt inside the KoboldCPP folder like on the screenshot
Then run:
--model "full path to the model.gguf file here with one set of quotation marks" --usevulkan --gpulayers 43 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Which will show you the full error instead of closing the window when the exception happens. Since windows doesn't seem to provide a way to capture the output of processes without redirecting it and hiding the command prompt completely, the game can't display the actual error by itself.
This is the error I get when I copy and paste your command in. Additionally, no, the recent update didn't help. It appears to be the same error I pasted earlier with an unhandled exception. I'm curious as to if windows is blocking this program from running somehow.
Oops, I forgot the koboldcpp.exe before the arguments, but yes, you already posted the error. There's a single search result which turned out to be blasbatchsize related, but blasbatchsize defaults to 512 for Vulkan which isn't a problem.
You can try this which uses OpenCL instead of Vulkan:
koboldcpp.exe --model "full path to the model.gguf file here with one set of quotation marks" --useclblast 0 0 --gpulayers 43 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Otherwise I'm out of ideas other than a driver update since it's an unspecified exception.
I managed to grab this screenshot. After this the command prompt window closes automatically and the game displays, "Unable to load AI model" or something and only gives the option to quit. Here it is:
i think the bow is bug i got it and arrows but i got to use it from my bag and nothin happen nothin gets hurt and it use the arrow and i fig out the bug with the old shed door relockin and key not workin
You're right, the ranged weapon logic did break at some point. Thanks for reporting it.
Also the shed thing is probably not a bug but simply the fact that you don't actually unlock the shed if Gareth gives you the key to it through other means in RP without selling it to you, it's a purely cosmetic item in 0.8. This will be a feature in 0.9 though.
Three Eyes? Do you have a location for modded and custom characters or just custom sprites? I really appreciate how accessible you made that (really nice sample character and easy to understand readme, kudos!) Now I just need some sprites, and that 's the only hurdle to me making all my oc's romance this little town! EDIT: I wrote this before I reread the TRELLIS link in the readme!

i play the demo and its a fun game i well buy it and the way you made the AI talk to you from npc is grate dont think i seen that done b4 and im happy that the AI under stans me sins spelling is not my best 10/10 this game is ahead of it time and FYI 30m demo dont really do the game right and the hole E+ to interac takes gettin use to
Mm, I do have some feedback. I am not sure if it's possible to fix this, but if it is, something I noticed that is mildly annoying during group conversations, is if an NPC participant says something another NPC participant dislikes, even if it has nothing to do with you, they lose affection with you. This is pretty funny if you end up in a group conversation with Oriana and Celandine at the bathhouse, because Oriana HATES nearly anything Celandine says. x3
Love the new custom character feature! Though I can't seem to get the dialogue offset to work? No matter what numbers I put in, my character portrait stays in the same place, I can't shift it around, so it's very offcenter in dialogue.
I did not, I tried numbers even in the thousands. Right now, it reads as follows:

I can't replicate the issue. There isn't anything that could be throwing a hidden exception due to e.g. permission problems at some unfortunate point either, since being able to select the custom character means it has been fully setup successfully, and after that it would throw a window with an error message at you if something were to go wrong.
On a side note, do you think it'd be possible for the player to have the option to have a dialog image portrait for them for being clothed versus nude? I won't add this for the default characters, but I can make this an option for custom characters.
Yeah, an option for the player would be great, I got two great images for m characters as nude or armored that I'd love to swap between. Also I think I might know what the issue is? I think it only reads the offset when you start a new game. But there's no way to know how my portrait will look in game, except by saving and loading and then talking to someone. Is there any way to adjust the portrait offset on an existing save file?
All the player character information (minus the sprites themselves, only the paths to the files) gets baked into the save file when you start a new game. It's not read from the JSON file every time. You can't change description/scale/offset/racials on an existing save file.
I will change this next version though since it is intuitive.
Now that saves are cross-version there is no reason to keep it since the purpose of that feature was to be able to keep the NPCs memories when having to start a new save for a new version of the game. Is there another reason you'd like to have that feature for?
Sorry, I only ask because it was a pretty decent way to edit the NPC's responses, memories, ect. especially when the AI ends up generating a bad response or if you wanted to set up already established relationships between characters or other things like that. It would be nice if that functionality was added back in or there was maybe better ways to do that in-game.
I'd love to when it's done, but steam currently has a special policy for live-generated AI content:
Live-Generated: Any kind of content created with the help of AI tools while the game is running. In addition to following the same rules as Pre-Generated AI content, this comes with an additional requirement: in the Content Survey, you'll need to tell us what kind of guardrails you're putting on your AI to ensure it's not generating illegal content.
The only exception to this will be Adult Only Sexual Content that is created with Live-Generated AI - we are unable to release that type of content right now.
Meaning as of now I wouldn't be able to release it since adding guardrails would go against the spirit of the game.
Ooh, okay. Sorry for asking so many questions. It is impossible to get real answers out of the NPC's, they'll make stuff up. SOMETIMES I can get them to admit stuff is fake or real if I make it very clear and OOC talking about the game system. But then sometimes they'll randomly decide we're talking about pathfinder or something and start telling me dnd rules, lol. It's wild.
Yeah, I think I got jebaited because my first experience with it was extremely good and natural. First time booting up the game, I wandered out of town, got beat up by monsters, wandered back into town, bumped into Darian, who sort of took me under his wing and gave me a full set of leather armor and an iron sword and taught me how to fight, and in return I Was supposed to go on patrol with him every night and eventually he deputized me and it was kind of surprising how natural and organic it felt. It wasn't until playing with a new character where the cracks started showing.
Saving seems to just stop working after about 3 in game days. I can't save my game anymore. Whenever I click save, it hangs for a long time, and nothing happens when I get control back.
I found a janky fix for this. I was using my GPU for the AI locally, and then when saving stopped working, I switched to using the server, but a conversation or two later, saving stopped working again. Then I switched back to my GPU, and now saving works just fine. Is there maybe something that clogs up the save pipeline somewhere? My save files aren't unusually large, nor is the memories when I exported them, so I'm not sure.

I don't know why but i can play it in the browser just fine. But when i download it the game magicaly dissapears. It put the programm in quaratine.

Go into Silverpine_Data\StreamingAssets and open a command prompt there.
Then do: koboldcpp.exe --model "model.gguf" --usecublas --gpulayers 17 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Replace --usecublas with --usevulkan if you have an AMD GPU.
Replace 17 with 27 if you have 8 gb of vram, or 43 if you have 10 gb or more.
This will make it show the full error without closing.

were is the smithy? the map is not great and hard its to find any buildings

Have tried with with admin and did not work, if it is save file problem I did have the 7v dowloaded but I deleted it when I saw the 9v came out.

Everything starts at 0 instead of 1 in programming, so it's simpler this way.

I've added a build that uses a more recent version of KoboldCPP. It might fix the issue.
If it doesn't fix it, open a command prompt inside the KoboldCPP folder like on the screenshot
Then run:
--model "full path to the model.gguf file here with one set of quotation marks" --usevulkan --gpulayers 43 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Which will show you the full error instead of closing the window when the exception happens.
Since windows doesn't seem to provide a way to capture the output of processes without redirecting it and hiding the command prompt completely, the game can't display the actual error by itself.
This is the error I get when I copy and paste your command in. Additionally, no, the recent update didn't help. It appears to be the same error I pasted earlier with an unhandled exception. I'm curious as to if windows is blocking this program from running somehow.

Oops, I forgot the koboldcpp.exe before the arguments, but yes, you already posted the error. There's a single search result which turned out to be blasbatchsize related, but blasbatchsize defaults to 512 for Vulkan which isn't a problem.
You can try this which uses OpenCL instead of Vulkan:
koboldcpp.exe --model "full path to the model.gguf file here with one set of quotation marks" --useclblast 0 0 --gpulayers 43 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Otherwise I'm out of ideas other than a driver update since it's an unspecified exception.
I managed to grab this screenshot. After this the command prompt window closes automatically and the game displays, "Unable to load AI model" or something and only gives the option to quit. Here it is:

This doesn't seem to be a known error but maybe the new KoboldCPP version fixes it.
can i ask if you can add a way to wake up in the sleep so your not stuck in it and time skips faster so its not as long to rest?
I added those changes to 0.9 which should be ready for release sometime within the next 48 hours.
i think the bow is bug i got it and arrows but i got to use it from my bag and nothin happen nothin gets hurt and it use the arrow and i fig out the bug with the old shed door relockin and key not workin
You're right, the ranged weapon logic did break at some point. Thanks for reporting it.
Also the shed thing is probably not a bug but simply the fact that you don't actually unlock the shed if Gareth gives you the key to it through other means in RP without selling it to you, it's a purely cosmetic item in 0.8. This will be a feature in 0.9 though.

Use a Unity asset ripping tool to rip them if you need them, they don't exist as plain files.

Three Eyes? Do you have a location for modded and custom characters or just custom sprites? I really appreciate how accessible you made that (really nice sample character and easy to understand readme, kudos!) Now I just need some sprites, and that 's the only hurdle to me making all my oc's romance this little town! EDIT: I wrote this before I reread the TRELLIS link in the readme!

i never got the firewall pop up only the script runing in back ground from the assist thing and what you see is the only thing it ever says
i play the demo and its a fun game i well buy it and the way you made the AI talk to you from npc is grate dont think i seen that done b4 and im happy that the AI under stans me sins spelling is not my best 10/10 this game is ahead of it time and FYI 30m demo dont really do the game right and the hole E+ to interac takes gettin use to
Mm, I do have some feedback. I am not sure if it's possible to fix this, but if it is, something I noticed that is mildly annoying during group conversations, is if an NPC participant says something another NPC participant dislikes, even if it has nothing to do with you, they lose affection with you. This is pretty funny if you end up in a group conversation with Oriana and Celandine at the bathhouse, because Oriana HATES nearly anything Celandine says. x3
That's something I haven't thought about before, but there are probably several ways of preventing it.
Oriana also just dislikes most things in general though.

Love the new custom character feature! Though I can't seem to get the dialogue offset to work? No matter what numbers I put in, my character portrait stays in the same place, I can't shift it around, so it's very offcenter in dialogue.
It works for me. Are you using high enough values? Did you damage the JSON structure (e.g. removed commas)?
I did not, I tried numbers even in the thousands. Right now, it reads as follows:

I can't replicate the issue. There isn't anything that could be throwing a hidden exception due to e.g. permission problems at some unfortunate point either, since being able to select the custom character means it has been fully setup successfully, and after that it would throw a window with an error message at you if something were to go wrong.
On a side note, do you think it'd be possible for the player to have the option to have a dialog image portrait for them for being clothed versus nude?
I won't add this for the default characters, but I can make this an option for custom characters.
Yeah, an option for the player would be great, I got two great images for m characters as nude or armored that I'd love to swap between. Also I think I might know what the issue is? I think it only reads the offset when you start a new game. But there's no way to know how my portrait will look in game, except by saving and loading and then talking to someone. Is there any way to adjust the portrait offset on an existing save file?
All the player character information (minus the sprites themselves, only the paths to the files) gets baked into the save file when you start a new game. It's not read from the JSON file every time. You can't change description/scale/offset/racials on an existing save file.
I will change this next version though since it is intuitive.
Love the game but how come you removed the Export NPC Memories option?
Now that saves are cross-version there is no reason to keep it since the purpose of that feature was to be able to keep the NPCs memories when having to start a new save for a new version of the game.
Is there another reason you'd like to have that feature for?
Sorry, I only ask because it was a pretty decent way to edit the NPC's responses, memories, ect. especially when the AI ends up generating a bad response or if you wanted to set up already established relationships between characters or other things like that. It would be nice if that functionality was added back in or there was maybe better ways to do that in-game.

I'd love to when it's done, but steam currently has a special policy for live-generated AI content:
Live-Generated: Any kind of content created with the help of AI tools while the game is running. In addition to following the same rules as Pre-Generated AI content, this comes with an additional requirement: in the Content Survey, you'll need to tell us what kind of guardrails you're putting on your AI to ensure it's not generating illegal content.
The only exception to this will be Adult Only Sexual Content that is created with Live-Generated AI - we are unable to release that type of content right now.
Meaning as of now I wouldn't be able to release it since adding guardrails would go against the spirit of the game.

How do you repair equipment? I kept asking NPC's, but they all gave me different answers, none of which worked.

Ooh, okay. Sorry for asking so many questions. It is impossible to get real answers out of the NPC's, they'll make stuff up. SOMETIMES I can get them to admit stuff is fake or real if I make it very clear and OOC talking about the game system. But then sometimes they'll randomly decide we're talking about pathfinder or something and start telling me dnd rules, lol. It's wild.
You have to suspend your disbelief for this game because current LLMs are sort of incapable of admitting that they don't know something.
Yeah, I think I got jebaited because my first experience with it was extremely good and natural. First time booting up the game, I wandered out of town, got beat up by monsters, wandered back into town, bumped into Darian, who sort of took me under his wing and gave me a full set of leather armor and an iron sword and taught me how to fight, and in return I Was supposed to go on patrol with him every night and eventually he deputized me and it was kind of surprising how natural and organic it felt. It wasn't until playing with a new character where the cracks started showing.
Saving seems to just stop working after about 3 in game days. I can't save my game anymore. Whenever I click save, it hangs for a long time, and nothing happens when I get control back.
I found a janky fix for this. I was using my GPU for the AI locally, and then when saving stopped working, I switched to using the server, but a conversation or two later, saving stopped working again. Then I switched back to my GPU, and now saving works just fine. Is there maybe something that clogs up the save pipeline somewhere? My save files aren't unusually large, nor is the memories when I exported them, so I'm not sure.

There isn't really anything that should be able to pile up, and if there were it would inflate the size of the save file.
