Is it possibly within the scope of your game to eventually add the ability for you to ask NPC's to move in with you rather then the vice versa? I stumbled upon Mirel for the first time, and this playthrough I was playing a quadrupedal dragon, and she actually was the one who suggested it first, so I asked her to move in with me. She did folow me and go to sleep in my bed, where she remained for about 36 hours or so, only waking up if I talked to her, until she poofed from existence. Then later showed up walking back to town from the capitol,, and when I tried to bring her back, she poofed out of existence again. I just want to keep my kobold. D:
On a secondary note, there's a bug that's been present for the last two versions or so I keep forgetting to report, Celandine and Oriana seem to get lost a lot when navigating their own home. Celadine walks off into the woods, and Oriana goes to sleep outside of her room, as in llike outside of the house entirely against the wall of her room. This has happened on fresh download + installs and fresh save files for the past couple of versions.
Is it possibly within the scope of your game to eventually add the ability for you to ask NPC's to move in with you rather then the vice versa?
This would require the AI to generate a new daily schedule for the NPC, which would definitely work with current big SOTA models and wouldn't be that difficult to implement, but the model currently used by the game would struggle/fail to do so in a meaningful way.
Celadine walks off into the woods, and Oriana goes to sleep outside of her room, as in llike outside of the house
Celandine walking off into the woods isn't a bug, but I'll take a look at the Oriana thing. If there's something obstructing her bed, it's a fail safe being triggered.
Hmm, perhaps instead of generating a new schedule,, you coulld have some manual edge case for specific NPC(s)? Perhaps design a villager (or use Mirel since she's usually only around half the time anyway otherwise) with their whole purpose being that at high relationship instead of giving the player house keys, they ask to move in and live with the player? Then you can just have a manually made 'lives with player' schedule for them, though it might have to generate some sort of pathing for navigating whatever players may have done to the shed.
Only with a custom character, afaik. When you make a custom character, you get 300 characters to make a description. You can also describe yourself to NPC's,, and they'll generally remember it, if you emphasize for them to do so. I constantly had to remind NPC's I was a quadrupedal creature that walked on four legs and after a while, they didn't need reminding anymore.
Though, I now realize that could just be a Celandine-ism. Celandine is a slut and will flatter and flirt with just about any character that talks to her in my experience, even with no prompting at all.
Blair was my favorite character until I started making my own too, I love snakes. If you like Blair only because they are a snake, you can also just generate your own, I like to use this website: https://yodayo.com/text-to-image
It has a model called "Nova Furyy XL Illustrious" and it is great for making furry characters, I use it to generate portraits and such for this game regularly, though you'll only get a few tries daily without paying, but it's generation capabilities was good enough for me to throw ten bucks at them, and you get a LOT of generations out of just that. It'll even do nudity, if you want to make some nude versions of your portrait.
That might be because of some sort of prompt you did that they remembered? Sometimes when you ask an NPC to RP a certain way, they'll remember it. Like I've asked NPC's to post multi paragraph and describe their actions, and sometimes an NPC will just remember that I asked them to do that and be very wordy in al their responses.
LLMs are prone to repetition like this, so the game eventually cleans up the NPCs short-term memory to prevent this kind of thing from becoming permanent.
I noticed that there is enchanted equipment now! I was wondering if there is a way to have NPC's sell/give you enchanted equipment through the dialog? I've taken to custom ordering equipment from Aldric through dialog rather then trading it, because you can ask NPC's to give it a custom name with is nice for personalization, but since you can't have them give you enchanted equipment afaik, there's no way to get enchanted equipment with a custom name!
I am very interested in your Silverpine game, and I would love to buy it, but unfortunately, there is no way to pay for the purchase from Russia. Itch.io . Would you like to know if there are any alternative ways to get the full version? Perhaps via direct transfer or another payment option?
I would be very grateful for any help. Thank you for your hard work and great game!
That question should be adressed to russians or whoever has problems with sanctions in their region, I dunno much about alternative payment methods, only that they can't pay directly.
Since I don't own an OSX device and the game depends on Windows API calls, I can't provide builds for it. I've issued a refund which Itch will have to approve first.
Your last update, if it's unable to recognize the directory of a custom character, just deletes it all, including all the files I made for it. :< No backup is created, it just deletes all of your work. I don't know why it suddenly didn't recognize the directory and deleted my custom character, this is the same one I've been using since the update that added custom characters and they worked just fine until this recent update killed it forever, the files are just gone now.
Creating and deleting a single file in its AppData folder to check if it has access
Deleting the AI model if it's corrupted and needs to be redownloaded
Deleting the _MEI folders created by KoboldCPP in temp when closed because KoboldCPP fails to do so sometimes
It also overwrites all data in "Silverpine\Characters\Example Custom Character" with the copy of it from the StreamingAssets folder as the ReadMe file says.
Perhaps you edited the character in "Silverpine_Data\StreamingAssets\Example Custom Character" in the old version?
They can't release it on steam without heavily censoring the AI. AI's aren't allowed to talk about certain religious, political, violent, and sexual subjects in steam.
Got a small axe from Gareth, but couldn't use it to chop trees. Also found a ton of containers outside of town full of amazing loot, but couldn't take any of it out.
Anyone else having issues when talking to two NPCs at once where it locks up and won't let you click anything? This happens with new and old saves, only way out of it is closing the game that I've found so far, which loses progress. I'm stumped.
Depending on your system or AI server load, processing NPC actions might take a very long time, especially if an NPC is giving you an item. While the game is waiting for NPC actions to be done processing, you can't interact with anything.
Running a I9 14900KF, 4090 and DDR5 96gigs, I had assumed that would be plenty lol, but its been constant and only when talking with two since this update, it doesn't seem to recover even waiting half an hour, but ill give it another shot and see.
The reworked long-term memory system breaks backwards compatibility with NPC memory files from versions before 1.0.0. Load the old save in the new version, then export the memories again, then you can import them wherever you need.
They didn't have much long-term memory before 1.0.0 in the first place. Versions before 1.0.0 kept track of a small blob of general relationship info. Versions after 1.0.0 compress information from the short-term memory into highly concise chunks that are then committed to long-term memory.
They have an automated system in place that filters any potential sexual content to conform with the Steam guidelines, which I don't believe makes sense for this game.
I started a conversation with Mirel when i found her standing in the middle of the village,
i asked her if she wanted to get something to eat
She intially said yes in response, then when done thinking, produced a secondary response making an excuse as to why she couldn't, saying she needed to drop a package off at aldric's shop.
I offered to accompany her there and she said yes
The secondary think happened again and another excuse was provided as to why i couldn't
I managed to make this happen repeatedly. Is she not allowed in certain parts of the village?
Ok, it seems she does two rounds of thinking regardless, i doubt this is intended.
NPCs can't follow you while in the process of traveling between world tiles, so this is an "immersive" way of canceling the action without simply having nothing happen at all. She shouldn't be standing around then though, unless you're on 1.0.1 where this can very rarely happen.
i'm definitely on 1.0.2 but maybe its based around where she was when i saved before I brought it forward? I'm sure if i exit the silverpine area and jump back in she will move
I just played the demo version of the game and I liked it. Of course, character sprites created with the help of artificial intelligence, well, that's not important, you can close your eyes to it, the game itself is quite interesting (although I haven't tried much in the demo of the game)
I would really like to play the full version of the game, but unfortunately I can't buy it, which is very sad(
I wish good luck to the developer in his other projects)
I imagine you saved on a bed in the old version, got loaded in on the same bed in the new version, your character got put into the sideways position to allign with the bed, then, as part of the cleanup when loading old saves, teleported to the middle of the town without actually stepping off the bed. A very wonky edge case.
I covered it pretty fast with a big bedroom, a storage room, a crafting room with all my stations, a storage room and I haven't put down a bathroom or a dining room or a Kitchen.
It may be my fault because I like big spaces, but I filled it all really fast once I gathered the materials
NPCs give you a key to their home and access to their plot at high relationship. Hayden's, Aldric's, and Rosalyn's plots should all connect to the purchasable plot seamlessly.
There's a button in the settings that takes you to the folder. In that folder just duplicate the "Custom Character Example" folder, change the folder name to the name of your character, then replace the sprites inside with your own. There's also a JSON file inside that specifies the character description given to the AI, dialog sprite placement, and racials. You can open it with any text editor or online JSON editor. Just a little idea; there should be a freeplay option that's like a "creative mode" where the player doesn't have to eat, drink, sleep, or keep their sanity up. It would be good for players who prefer easy-going slow-paced gameplay.
In the meantime, asking/begging NPC's for food and to use their beds is way to subsist for free, as a leech. You can even make a game out of it if you prefer, by becoming friends with them first and moving in with them, or just straight offer "favors" for such (the merchant NPC will often jump at the chance to give you stuff for "favors"). For example, one of the characters I RP became the guard's squire, and so he let's me sleep in his bed and I get rations and equipment and pay for slaying enemies from him. Really as long as you can convince a character to do something, they probably have the power to do it. Just be mindful that sometimes they'll hallucinate functions that they are not capable of doing or that don't even exist in the game yet--one of my earliest bad experiences was being sent on a wild goose chase from NPC to NPC to get my items repaired, ther eis no item repair function in the game yet.
are you referring to a specific merchant npc or is it just in general? bc aldric and rosalyn seem to differ greatly in how they respond to boldness, but then again I haven't tried aldric yet so
I am referring to Aldric specifically. Rosalyn seems to be a bit of a wildcard. Every playthrough she's entirely different for me. I've had runs where she immedietly asks me lewd stuff the first time I Talk to her, and some where she gets offended if I say anything lewd even if I got her relationship high.
ya ill send it over and not sure ether and is happing whin i try to build only thing i can think of is it might be somthin in the save or the in game rain messin with it some how
Hi, Ive already played a bit with the custom Character and I wanted to know if it was possible to create new racial features as I don't want to carelessly edit the various files
Having played pretty consistently for over a week, the one game mechanic currently present that I feel would benefit the play experience getting addressed sooner rather than later, Is getting a way to improve your carry weight. I'm trying to improve the shed but its slow progress made slower by how few materials or furniture items I can move at one time while wearing clothes and carrying the tools for gathering materials. it would serve as an additional objective for player's to strive for.
There will be gear enchantments with various effects including carry weight. I'm also taking another look at material balance for structures in general.
I'm enjoying the game so far, but I was wondering two things.
Can people in the village follow you to other zones? They seem to indicate a willingness or want to, but then I try to go there with them following, and they don't follow.
Second: Are you going to add more pre-generated characters?
They can leave the town world tile as part of their routines, but they can't while following you, and will actively refuse if you ask them while they're not on the town world tile. This is simply because that feature would require a suprising amount of work to develop and doesn't seem that important right now, so it's low priority.
There's currently hard limit of 7 main characters because Nemo (the model) breaks down after ~4,000 tokens of context/memory. One token is about 3/4th of a word, and everything the NPC knows, including the short term memory of the current conversation and information about every other NPC living in the village has to fit in there. Mirel is an 8th character but the other NPCs knowledge about her is located in the same place as NPCs knowledge about less relevant information like items or locations which doesn't take up context tokens. This only works because Mirel isn't always around. I tried moving all NPCs there but it doesn't work out because it's a less organic way of incorporating information.
A better model, preferably with linear instead of quadratic attention is required for more main characters but there isn't one yet.
Ah, I meant new pre-set characters for players to choose, not new NPCs. Seems like expanding the game might be tricky with that low limit on NPCs, but, good luck!
This is the LLM trying to hallucinate the output of another role that is not its own, which should be getting suppressed but it seems this kind of behavior can still slip though.
I noticed that when I was talking to both Hayden & Darian as a group, the up arrow to read previous sections of longer responses from either of them gets hidden behind one of the exit dialogue buttons.
you might want to look in the code for trees after exit the cave the trees pop in so thick is all most imposible to move let a lone get back to town and it can happin goin from 1 area thin back
You made the pixelart, but cheaped out on the character avatars?? Please stop using ai, you're a fine artist, make pixelart of the characters or hire an artist.
The pixelart is AI too. And the entire premise of the game is that it is all AI. There is even a guide included on how to make your own character. You say the dev "cheaped out" but they're only selling the game for 8 dollars, with a large amount of the content being free and included in the demo anyway. Having to budget for hiring an artist would triple this games price at least.
Oh no!!! Thats fucking disgusting!! Oh that's horrible I'm so saddened to hear that. Making money off of stealing and destroying the environment is even worse than doing it for free. Absolutely horrible.
im sorry you feel that way about the game but look at it this way the dev is in new lands here a game like this hasnot been done b4 give it a chans see ware it go
No, its not cool really. Ai is for game mechanics, you make it yourself to program an entity. You don't use it to generate images or a whole game, ick.
i get were your coming from but do you relise that 90% of big game makers and movie makers use ai for a majoraty of it just like companys that build cars use bots
not that deep. not everyone has the art skills, nor the money to hire an artist. plus, I probably wouldn't connect with the characters as much as I do if they looked differently. i mean cmon, 'destroying the environment'? it's ai. and so is the whole game anyway. just goon and move on
So that's not how the world works. " "destroying the environment"? Ha! It's just a oil mine? Make money and move on". "Not everyone has the art skills nor money" Have you seen the COUNTLESS games using free community maps, textures, mobs, art programs, or even a just shitty game that gets so much love? Ai is stealing. Goon ethically inconclusioniamamoron.
I'm trying to run the AI on my GPU but it's not working. The console window opens for a second, closes, and the game tells me "Failed to load AI model". I've tried running it as an administrator and giving it high priority but no change.
Looks like a file integrity issue or an antivirus blocking it somehow. Try deleting koboldcpp.exe and let the game download it again. If it doesn't work check your antivirus.
This didn't work at first but after moving the folder to my C drive and downloading koboldcpp.exe again it started working. Seems like the G drive was lacking some permissions. Thanks for the fast responses.
At some point would it be possible for you to add a settings option for changing the length of the responses to longer if running off the gpu? whatever i seem to do, the ai tends to stick with one line responses or emotes.
I can add a verbosity slider, but it'll be more of a suggestion to the AI than something that can be enforced. If you're talking to Gareth or Oriana it's just part of their characters.
i have the same thing w me. usually their responses are so long it literally needs two or three scrolls to finish what they're saying, and that actually becomes a problem when after that an action occurs like when they follow me the dialogue arrows disappear. but right now im being given some short responses, like (action) "one sentence dialogue", and that's with celandine, who from my interactions with her I wouldn't say is as limited as oriana or gareth
There is none right now. The NPCs are prone to lying because it's an inherit property of LLM based AI. If two different NPCs give you wildly different answers to a question without having exchanged information/having overheard the conversation by being nearby, it's not part of their knowledge database and they made it up.
When I start the game, where I you pick the charaters you can swap bewteen the other charaters and choice the gender but you can not click finish. If I press load save this pops up. you can not click on any of those settings
Looks like a save file folder access permission problem. Try launching the game as administrator, or if this is the browser version try another browser.
Try deleting the entire AppData\LocalLow\Three Eyes Software\Silverpine folder. This will also delete your save files, but save files before 0.8 aren't cross-version compatible anyway.

Is it possibly within the scope of your game to eventually add the ability for you to ask NPC's to move in with you rather then the vice versa? I will think about it.

Did you try using a VPN?
The russian payment is declined due to sanctions if I remember correctly. So VPN won't help much if the all their cards are declined.
Maybe try using an E-commerce payment system like 'YooMoney'?
That question should be adressed to russians or whoever has problems with sanctions in their region, I dunno much about alternative payment methods, only that they can't pay directly.
Gave Hayden some cooked meat, he offered to make some Rabbit and herb bun out of it. For some reason it's a bow? XD
will there ever be a download for mac?
i bought the game on impulse without checking lol
Since I don't own an OSX device and the game depends on Windows API calls, I can't provide builds for it.
I've issued a refund which Itch will have to approve first.
shame, you don't have to refund by the way
I think the game itself and the concept is really cool, i wouldn't mind supporting you

No, it had it's own directory and everything. I had four custom characters,, and it just picked and deleted that one in particular for some reason.
The developer, please released the game in steam. Then I can buy, please.
They can't release it on steam without heavily censoring the AI. AI's aren't allowed to talk about certain religious, political, violent, and sexual subjects in steam.

Love the game and possibility in provides. Tho i can`t buy it yet. Please consider adding this game to Steam sotore!
It would really help me to buy this game if it would appear in steam
I would, but Steam doesn't allow live-generated AI content without guardrails as of now.
Is it not the same as this one on steam? They create ai text too as a part of a gameplay.

loaded into new version and my character sprites are sideways, not sure if this is going to happen every time i load or not
Can you post a screenshot of what you mean by sideways?
i think ive figured it out, i was teleported, when i slept in a bed, it fixed itself, if i see it again, i'll take a screenshot

Hi, I wanted to ask, is there an option to buy more land so we can build a massive house ? Or is it not a project ?
when you buy the old shed you get a good chunk of land with it to build on
I covered it pretty fast with a big bedroom, a storage room, a crafting room with all my stations, a storage room and I haven't put down a bathroom or a dining room or a Kitchen.

Thank you for the explanation
Forgot to say I need an in-depth explanation on how to upload a custom character. I'm stupid, I need help.
There's a button in the settings that takes you to the folder. In that folder just duplicate the "Custom Character Example" folder, change the folder name to the name of your character, then replace the sprites inside with your own.

I've had runs where she immedietly asks me lewd stuff the first time I Talk to her, and some where she gets offended if I say anything lewd even if I got her relationship high.
oh, well thats... interesting
im gettin the lag spikes and crash agin
You can send me the save file again. I didn't see any other parts of the game using suspicious amounts of resources during saving/loading though.
ya ill send it over and not sure ether and is happing whin i try to build only thing i can think of is it might be somthin in the save or the in game rain messin with it some how
This has shed light on not just one, but two bugs. Thanks for reporting the issue.
np
Hi, Ive already played a bit with the custom Character and I wanted to know if it was possible to create new racial features as I don't want to carelessly edit the various files
Have a nice day
There's no way to create new ones. What kind of racials would you like to have in the game?
I was looking for traits such as claws, night vision, slow, and thick skin to give more weight to the appearance of the character.
quadrupedal, arm count, and body size. would be nice as the ai likes to forget my character is ten feet tall
also Mirel cant follow the player for some reason
Racials are just for gameplay flavor. The AI forgetting things is a limitation of the AI model itself.
Are you planning on expanding server limit for AI?
No. It's expensive to run.
Mirel is... interesting.
Cool! Thanks for reply , I'm really enjoying the game so far :)
the work bench dont fix leather armer it that a bug or is thare another way to fix it ?
Just tools and weapons right now.
aww ok =(
I'm enjoying the game so far, but I was wondering two things.
Can people in the village follow you to other zones? They seem to indicate a willingness or want to, but then I try to go there with them following, and they don't follow.
Second: Are you going to add more pre-generated characters?
Thanks.
Seems like expanding the game might be tricky with that low limit on NPCs, but, good luck!
i just seen this a few times in a short bit not sure why it just say SYSTEM:
This is the LLM trying to hallucinate the output of another role that is not its own, which should be getting suppressed but it seems this kind of behavior can still slip though.
I noticed that when I was talking to both Hayden & Darian as a group, the up arrow to read previous sections of longer responses from either of them gets hidden behind one of the exit dialogue buttons.
the dev has acknowledged this as a bug and is intending to fix it next release
Thanks for the info.
I don't know why but i can play it in the browser just fine. But when i download it the game magicaly dissapears. It put the programm in quaratine.
Disable your antivirus then. It really shouldn't be flagging it though.
Thanks. Still good game and can't wait to see more.
you might want to look in the code for trees after exit the cave the trees pop in so thick is all most imposible to move let a lone get back to town and it can happin goin from 1 area thin back
I'll check it out.
And like 90% of North Americans litter. So should that be encouraged or allowed??
every one sed the same about the 1s car made and the 1s plane
not that deep. not everyone has the art skills, nor the money to hire an artist. plus, I probably wouldn't connect with the characters as much as I do if they looked differently. i mean cmon, 'destroying the environment'? it's ai. and so is the whole game anyway. just goon and move on
So that's not how the world works.
Release this on steam 🙏
I'm trying to run the AI on my GPU but it's not working. The console window opens for a second, closes, and the game tells me "Failed to load AI model". I've tried running it as an administrator and giving it high priority but no change.
Go into Silverpine_Data\StreamingAssets and open a command prompt there.
Then do: koboldcpp.exe --model "model.gguf" --usecublas --gpulayers 17 --quiet --multiuser 100 --skiplauncher --highpriority
Replace --usecublas with --usevulkan if you have an AMD GPU.
Replace 17 with 27 if you have 8 gb of vram, or 43 if you have 10 gb or more.
This will make it show the full error without closing.
This is the error I'm getting. I've tried updating PyInstaller but I get the same error.
I understand what you mean, thank you for replying :)
i have the same thing w me. usually their responses are so long it literally needs two or three scrolls to finish what they're saying, and that actually becomes a problem when after that an action occurs like when they follow me the dialogue arrows disappear. but right now im being given some short responses, like (action) "one sentence dialogue", and that's with celandine, who from my interactions with her I wouldn't say is as limited as oriana or gareth
were is the smithy? the map is not great and hard its to find any buildings
There is none right now.
The NPCs are prone to lying because it's an inherit property of LLM based AI.
If two different NPCs give you wildly different answers to a question without having exchanged information/having overheard the conversation by being nearby, it's not part of their knowledge database and they made it up.
oh big sad but there will be soonish?
aldric sells a work bench so you can fix your stuff with ores
do thay have to be apart of the talk to learn or just in the same room when u have a 1 on 1 talk with another npc ?
Just the same room.
Have tried with with admin and did not work, if it is save file problem I did have the 7v dowloaded but I deleted it when I saw the 9v came out.
Try deleting the entire AppData\LocalLow\Three Eyes Software\Silverpine folder. This will also delete your save files, but save files before 0.8 aren't cross-version compatible anyway.
Yep that works
Thanks for the help
